Mental Health Community Conference

Mental Health Community Conference

Learn how to notice, name and defuse anxiety with keynote speaker, Steve Cuss. He is an internationally acclaimed speaker, pastor, founder of Capable Life, and author of Managing Leadership Anxiety and The Expectation Gap.

Breakouts include:

Assets and Liability of Family of Origin
We ‘pick up’ beliefs and assumptions from our family of origin. Some of those were overly stated, some were unspoken. We can experience deeper freedom in Christ when we look at the assets and liabilities that we have inherited from our family, especially when it forms ‘family propaganda. The Old Testament says ‘the sins of the father are handed to the third and fourth generation’ but of course, in Christ, this is not inevitable. Whether you were raised in a loving family or challenging one, this breakout will help you clarify what you’re holding, what has hold of you and how the Gospel can bring freedom from the grip of assumption. Led by Steve Cuss (stevecusswords.com).

Fueling Your Life: Practical & Relational Strategies for Lasting Energy and Growth
We are only as strong as the fuel we run on—physically, emotionally, and spiritually. Dr. John Townsend’s People Fuel provides a transformative framework for understanding the kinds of relationships that either energize or drain us. In this interactive session, we will explore practical ways to assess our relational nutrients, identify sources of depletion, and intentionally invest in life-giving connections. Through experiential exercises, guided reflection, and real-time application, participants will leave with actionable steps to cultivate healthier relationships, set boundaries, and maximize their God-given potential.
Led by Madeline Spring, MA, LMHC (undaunted-leadership.com)

How to Help When You Feel Helpless
The breakout group will discuss putting emphasis on offering emotional support through presence, listening, and validating feelings, rather than feeling like we have to fix the "problem". We will discuss how we can try to meet physical and emotional needs, like helping with meals, running an errand, or simply sitting with with someone. We will explore what has helped us feel supported or what has felt unhelpful at times and focus on leaning into connection with others and community, and what that could look like. Helpers and community members will also be reminded about our own self-care and how that can affect how we show up for others, because there is wisdom in the directive to put your own oxygen mask on before helping someone else with theirs.
Led by Amy Terrell, LMFT and Hallie Harris, LCSW.

Just for Teens:
Researchers agree that we are in the midst of a mental health epidemic among our youth. The fact is, it's hard to be a teenager right now. We see you. We want to talk about it. We want to help.

Join Nate for an honest discussion about our mental health, current societal pressures (such as social media), and God's unwavering Light in the midst of the darkness. Nate's going to share his story of battling severe depression and encountering Jesus in a more powerful and palpable way than ever before in the thick of it. We'll learn how to talk about mental illness and how to fight against it by building healthier, holier habits into our lives. We're going to have a safe space to talk about what's really going on together - just with other teenagers in the room. We hope you'll join us.
Led by Nate Plyler.

Navigating Social Media
Can we live “in” but not “of” the social media world?

This session is focusing on how we live in a world of advancing technology, while staying strong in our biblical practices. Jesus states in John 17:16-17 that Christians are not to be in the world because Christ was in the world, but we are to sanctify them by the truth; your word is truth. In today's world, we are the loneliest people who are the most connected to others. Social media sites are the most popular uses of our phones. While interactions and connections can be healthy, we need to be aware of how sites can impact our youth as well as ourselves. We will provide resources on how to apply and assist youth in navigating healthy ways to live “in” but not “of” the social media world.
Led by Teresa Johnson, LCSW and Kinsey McVay, MSW.

21 Days of Prayer

Oftentimes we struggle to share the gospel with our friends. Either we are overcome with fear or don't know what to share. We all need a burden to reach our lost friends for Christ. This is a 21-day Bible reading plan that helps us meditate specifically on passages related to evangelism and is accompanied by a short prayer for each day for our friends.

As a church, we are inviting you to participate in this plan leading up to Easter. Consider who your ONE is, and let's be intentional about praying for them!

On September 27, 2024, Hurricane Helene caused widespread devastation, including catastrophic flooding, significant property damage, and a high death toll, primarily impacting the southeastern United States, with estimates placing the economic loss at over $50 billion, making it one of the costliest hurricanes in recent history. Now, six months post-landfall, many families are still displaced. Life is nowhere near every day for many.
We are heading to Elizabethton, Tennessee, from
March 30 - April 5, 2025, to partner with IDES to help a family who lost everything to this storm.

Easter Women's Bible Study

Easter is so much more than a holiday.

Easter isn't just a date on the calendar; it's the most significant event in human history. It's the celebration of Jesus' resurrection from the dead, and His victory over everything that holds us back in our earthly lives. It's the day we focus on the promise and power of Jesus and draw closer to Him.

Join Christine Caine and Lisa Harper in a transformative study that goes beyond tradition. Walk with them through four weeks of the Lenten season taking in the details of Jesus' life, the agony of His death, and the overwhelming joy of His resurrection.

Relive His steps with a heart full of hope. See it all with eyes of faith. You'll be ready to celebrate Easter in more ways than you ever have and be inspired to share the joy only Jesus could make possible.

This study is led by Nancy Jo Hammel. Sign up HERE to join!
